The Städtische Galerie was built in 1876 as a residential building and used as the Hellmut Kienzle Clock Museum from 1961 to 1975. Since 1990, the Städtische Galerie has presented contemporary art and classical modernism. Current art is complemented by exhibitions of works of classical modernism by Dix, Klimt, Picasso, Rouault and others.
The museum building of the Heimat- und Uhrenmuseum, located directly on Muslenplatz, is a half-timbered building and former teacher's house from the early 18th century and contains five large exhibition areas. In addition to a section dedicated to the history of the town, it offers several special collections, such as Swabian furniture, historic farmhouse parlours, Black Forest clocks, lemannen at the source of the Neckar.
The International Aviation Museum displays over 40 exhibits on 13,000 square metres of exhibition space, both indoors and outdoors. These include model aeroplanes, training gliders, gliders, propeller planes, biplanes and triplanes, helicopters, jet fighters, turboprops and much more.
Deißlingen is located on the German Clock Route and the Neckar Valley cycle path. There is a permanent exhibition in the town hall (Kehlhof 1) that provides interesting insights into the watchmaking trade .www.deisslingen.de
The Catholic parish church of St. Laurentius in Deißlingen boasts impressive modern stained glass windows in the vestibule and choir, which were created by the Deißlingen artist Romuald Hengstler in the primary colours yellow, red and blue and are among the most important works of modern stained glass art in the district of Rottweil.
The church dedicated to St Pelagius in Rottweil-Altstadt is the oldest parish church in the town. The neo-Romanesque basilica stands on the ruins of a Roman hermenium. The hypocaust complex, which was discovered under the church in 1898/99, can be visited (access north of the choir; register with the St Pelagius Catholic parish office, tel. 0741 21263, www.pelagius-rottweil.).
The Roman baths in Nikolausfeld (corner of Hölderstraße/Königstraße) are among the largest thermal baths in south-west Germany. The walls of the ruins were excavated between 1967 and 1971, restored and opened to the public as an open-air museum.
The district town of Rottweil is one of the most interesting excursion destinations in the upper Neckar region. The "oldest town in Baden-Württemberg" traces its foundation back to the Romans. Rottweil has retained its historical character in the town centre. Stately town houses and magnificent churches are reminders of the proud past of the former imperial city. As a "walk-in history book", the town invites you to take an entertaining journey into the past with its wealth of cultural monuments. In addition to the main churches, the Dominican Museum (with the relics of Roman Rottweil) and the town museum are a must-see. Rottweil is known throughout Germany as a stronghold of the "Swabian-Alemannic Fasnet" carnival. From 7 October 2017, Rottweil will have a new attraction in the form of the thyssenkrupp lift test tower. The 246-metre-high tower offers Germany's highest viewing platform at 232 metres.
Horgen's townscape is dominated by the neo-Gothic parish church of St Martin, which towers majestically in the centre of the village on the former castle hill. Horgen offers visitors a game reserve, a miniature golf course, a therapeutic water treading facility and beautiful circular hiking trails.
The carillon at Niedereschach town hall was inaugurated in 2009 and plays four times a day (5 minutes after 9 am, 12 pm, 3 pm and 6 pm) with melodies adapted to the time of day. It was financed by donations from citizens.
