In a relatively small area, Rottweil presents an astonishing amount of art. The large variety of museums, exhibitions and collections testifies to a lively engagement with culture from all eras. Visit the Dominican Museum to see relics from the Roman “Arae Flaviae”, discover medieval paintings in the Dursch Collection, or immerse yourself in contemporary art. The Town Museum offers deep insights into the history of Rottweil; here, you can see an ancient map by David Rötlin, which is called the “Pürschgerichtskarte”, as well as the executioner’ sword, a model of the medieval town, and the jesters’ room “Fastnetstüble”.
